Quiz Bowl – The quiz bowl team is comprised of Aggie-X members who
practice weekly for the Southern and National Agricultural Economic competitions
held in February and July, respectively. The game is played in a jeopardy style
format. Questions categories are macroeconomics, microeconomics,
agribusiness/finance, quantitative, resource/policy, potpourri, and management.
Questions differ in point amounts and teams compete to compile the most points.
The quiz bowl team most recently competed in Milwaukee, WI, at the National meetings and did very well.
Philanthropy – Each semester the club participates in philanthropy
activities such as Into the Streets and the Big Event. In addition, the new
members take on a community service project each semester. We are excited to see
what we can do to help the community this year.
Fundraising – Aggie-X members work concession stands at the OSU men’s basketball games to fund our other activities and member scholarships. Working the stands gives students practical experience with customer service and handling money.
Social Activities – Each month we try to hold a social activity for our members.
We are looking forward to the Halloween Party. Also, we take a yearly camping trip, allowing students to steal away for a weekend, de-stress, and enjoy one another’s company.
Professional Career Development – Aggie-X is a professional club that helps each member grow in their area of interest. Before becoming a member of Aggie-X, each student is required to submit a resume. This helps to ensure that our members have a resume that they can use when applying for internships and other career opportunities. We also host different alumni speakers throughout the year. These speakers relate their career paths to the members, what opportunities are available, and also how being a part of the Agricultural Economics department has helped them.
