CONSTITUTION
OF THE
AGRICULTURAL
ECONOMICS GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION
DEPARTMENT
OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS

STATE UNIVERSITY
ARTICLE
I
Name
of the Organization
Section
1 The name of the
organization shall be the Agricultural Economics Graduate Student Association,
hereafter referred to as the AEGSA.
ARTICLE
II
Section
1 The AEGSA shall promote
and facilitate intradepartmental communication among graduate students in the
Department of Agricultural Economics.
Section
2 The AEGSA shall provide
opportunities for graduate student input into the Department of Agricultural of
Economics standing committees.
Section
3 The AEGSA shall promote
awareness of graduate students in the Department of Agricultural
Economics.
Section
4 The AEGSA shall promote
activities which serve to facilitate the professional growth of graduate
students in the Department of Agricultural Economics
ARTICLE
III
Membership
Section
1 All currently enrolled
graduate students in the Department of Agricultural Economics are members of the
AEGSA.
ARTICLE
IV
Structure
of the AEGSA
Section
1 The officers of the
AEGSA shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Clause A Elected officers shall retain all the rights of the
AEGSA members.
Clause
B Elected officers may be
recalled by a two thirds majority of the AEGSA members
Clause
C Elections shall proceed and
duties of the officers shall be performed as outlined in the By-Laws.
Section
2 The qualifications for
officers in the AEGSA shall be that candidates be graduate students in the
Department of Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University and shall be
able to serve in the term of office for the following calendar year.
Section
3 The AEGSA shall be
divided into standing and ad-hoc committees as outlined in the By-Laws. Election
of the Chairman shall be conducted in accordance with procedures outlined in the
By-Laws.
ARTICLE
V
Executive
Board
Section
1 The Executive Board
shall be Composed of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Section
2 The Executive Board
shall respond to the will of the AEGSA and at all times be responsible to it.
ARTICLE
VI
Meetings
Section
1 The Executive Board
shall conduct at least one student activity or meeting per calendar month during
the Fall and Spring semesters. The Executive Board shall have the option to call
summer meetings.
Section
2 The President shall
call special meetings when requested by the Executive Board, or by a written
petition from one-third of the voting membership presented to any member of the
Executive Board.
ARTICLE
VII
Parliamentary
Authority
Section
1 A quorum shall consist
of a simple majority of the members.
Section
2 In the event of two
consecutive meetings in which a quorum is not present, a motion must be presented in each of the two consecutive meetings. At the second meeting, the
motion may be voted on and passed by a two-thirds majority of the voting members
present.
ARTICLE
VIII
Constitutional
Amendments and By-Laws
Section
1 Any member may propose
an amendment to this Constitution.
Clause
A The proposed amendment
shall be submitted in writing to the AEGSA Executive Board and be distributed at
least one week in advance of the consideration of said amendment
Clause B Any amendment shall require a two-thirds majority of the AEGSA
membership.
Section
2 By-Laws not in
conflict with this constitution may be adopted by the AEGSA membership.
Clause
A The By-Laws of the AEGSA
are to be attached to and considered an integral part of
this Constitution.
Clause B Any representative may propose an amendment to the By-Laws.

The proposed By-Laws shall be submitted in writing to the AEGSA executive

Any amendment shall require a two-thirds majority of the AEGSA
membership.
