Goat Boot Camp 2.0


OSU will be offering an advanced meat goat educational workshop titled "Goat Camp 2.0". The camp will take place at the Agri-Plex in Ada, Oklahoma on June 11-13. Spots will be limited to the first 50 paid participants. Cost is $200 per person which will cover the cost of the camp, transportation to off site events, lunch all 3 days, dinner the first 2 days, and snacks.

Goat Camp 2.0 will be a similar format as the original Meat Goat Boot Camp. Sessions will use a combination of hands-on, traditional, and exercises to teach meat goat producers a wide range of production and financial management practices. During this camp participants will be given tours of Reproductive Enterprises, OSU Sheep and Goat Farm, Pfifer Goats, and OSU Experiment Station at Lane. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to: How to give birthing assistance, goat corral set up and working demonstration, how to disbud (dehorn), how to draw blood and blood pregnancy testing, keeping financial records using Quicken, OSU Kidding Spreadsheet, Keep/Cull class, Artificial Insemination, buck collection and testing, AI synchronization, forage tour, web soil survey, fencing tour, and advanced nutrition.

Producers interested in the class need to download the application and send it and the registration fee to address on the form. Class size is limited and will fill up fast. Registration is based upon when payment is received.
